Description

This is a full-time, 12-month position and reports to the Director of Athletics. This position organizes, directs and administers all aspects of the University's compliance program. Duties include, but are not limited to certifying initial and continuing eligibility of student-athletes; maintaining NCAA squad lists; preparation of waivers (NCAA & MAAC); monitoring recruiting and financial aid; coordination of monthly rules education meetings for coaches and staff.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to: Monitoring and ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference and university rules through the use of various database systems (e.g., Teamworks Recruting & Compliance (TR&C - formerly ARMS), PeopleSoft, Slate, Opendorse & NCAA Apps). Responsible for TR&C and NCAA software monitoring system program by inputting required data, communicating discrepancies of software or logs to relevant parties. Perform documentation review, audits, and observations in the following areas: recruiting, playing and practice seasons, student-athlete awards and extra benefits, amateurism, initial and continuing eligibility, student-athlete employment, outside competition, camps and clinics, and athletics personnel. Conduct the rules education program by producing appropriate materials for athletics department staff, student-athletes, university staff, and boosters.

Includes conducting the required annual off-campus recruiting certification education sessions for all coaches who intend to recruit off-campus.

Disseminate and oversee the completion of annual required student-athlete and staff forms, includes by is not limited to NCAA and institutional forms. Assist with updating departmental manuals for student-athletes, coaches and staff. Disseminate NCAA interpretations, educational columns, and legislation, as necessary. Research, prepare and submit waiver requests to the NCAA and/or Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Investigate and report any institutional violations to the NCAA and/or Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Review and approve competition schedules to ensure compliance with NCAA minimum/maximum competition regulations as well as reviewing and approving declarations of each sports respective playing season. Monitor Financial Aid documentation and ensure award accuracy. Assist with the Athletics Financial Aid (formerly NLI) program, including athletic aid agreement approval, issuance, and validation within the Eligibility Center or Transfer Portal. Provide oversight of the complimentary admissions request and distribution process.

Educate the ticketing and marketing staff to ensure NCAA rules and regulations are followed when it comes to promotional activities and ticket distribution. Oversee and work in the Will Call office at men's and women's basketball home games and neutral site games (if requested).

Supervise the Director of Compliance as they monitor official and unofficial campus recruiting visits to ensure compliance with NCAA legislation. Includes pre-visit and post-visit approvals.

Supervise the Director of Compliance as they serve as the liaison with the Office of Residential Life for overnight recruiting visits.

Supervise the Director of Compliance as they monitor and approve requests for institutional sports camps. Supervise the Director of Compliance as they monitor paperwork submitted by coaches and staff related to the recruiting process and student-athlete well-being. This includes but is not limited to,

Work in collaboration with the Director of Compliance as it relates to tracking the initial eligibility of student athletes in the Eligibility Center.

Ensure all incoming student-athletes are registered and accounted for on the NCAA Eligibility Center Institutional Request List. Provide monthly/weekly updates to coaches and necessary staff.

Track the continuing eligibility of student-athletes in coordination with the Associate AD for Academics and the Registrars office.

Review student-athlete Progress Towards Degree. Review degree audits and certifications produced by the Registrar's Office. Assist the Athletics Academics Office with weekly monitoring of full-time status as needed.

Work in collaboration with the Director of Compliance as it relates to tracking the continuing eligibility of transfer student-athletes in coordination with the Associate AD for Academics and the Registrar's office.

Send requests for transfer tracer information. Review transfer credit evaluations produced by the Center for Advising for Progress Towards Degree Requirements. Review certifications produced by the Registrar's Office. Determine eligibility for use of transfer exceptions and apply and document the student-athletes transfer status. If applicable, ensure that no transfer tampering took place.

Educate and assist student-athletes who wish to transfer to a different institution.

Ensure compliance with Notification of Intent to Transfer process. Complete external requests for transfer information.

Supervise the Director of Compliance as it relates to roster management within the Athletic Department.

Process roster additions and removals. Ensure walk-ons are added and documented in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations. Process try-out requests and ensure NCAA rules and regulations are followed. Ensure all necessary coaches and staff members are aware of roster changes. Provide accurate rosters for institutional and NCAA Drug Testing selection. Maintain Squad Lists to ensure accuracy for NCAA reporting, this includes but is not limited to roster maintenance on Compliance Assistant, ARMS, and People Soft.

Serve as the primary contact for Name, Image, and Likeness inquiries. Responsible for student-athlete and staff education as well as monitoring and review of student athlete agreements. Responsible for monitoring changes in NCAA, New York State, and Federal regulations.

Serve as the primary contact for Opendorse Serve as a Change Champion and assist with the implementation and use of NIL Go

Serve as a sport Game Day Administrator and/or Sport Supervisor. Assist with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as needed. Participate as a member of an institutional working group as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or Senior Associate AD/SWA. Employment duties require some physical effort (e.g., standing, walking, and lifting), manual dexterity in operation of office equipment, extended period of time at a keyboard, and, at times, working hours outside the normal university schedule. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or Senior Associate AD/SWA. Qualifications

Professional Experience/Qualifications

3-5 years of previous NCAA compliance experience Organizational skills with the ability to independently handle multiple tasks; Strong interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; Experience working with NCAA applications such as LSDBi, RSRO, Compliance Assistant 2.0, APP and the Eligibility Center; Position may require availability on limited nights and weekends for athletic events and meetings. Preferred Qualifications

5-7 years of previous NCAA compliance experience at a Division I institution; Experience working with ARMS (Teamworks Recruiting & Compliance), Opendorse, and Vector products. Experience at an NCAA DI member institution preferred. Education

A Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred.
