IP Network Engineer-Nokia (NRS I Or NRS II Preferred) role at TEKsystems. 100% remote 1 year+ contract with opportunity for extension and permanent conversion. TEKsystems is currently seeking an IP Network Engineer with strong Nokia experience for a remote contract position. Essential Duties
Engineer II, IP Engineering position to provide engineering design and implementation services for the companys IP/MPLS core network, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and/or video transmission services. Provide technical leadership and escalation support for operations and engineering groups; mentor team members. Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure reliable operation and growth of a converged and scalable carrier network. Plan, design, implement, and document new network implementations. Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments. Complete Engineering Estimates and Installation Packages as needed. Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams. Mentor more junior staff to grow technical knowledge and experience. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
High-level understanding of high availability, redundancy, reliability, scalability, and security. Proficient in creating/editing network drawings (Microsoft Visio). Advanced experience configuring Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches. Advanced understanding of routing protocols: BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, etc. Strong project management concepts and ability to manage multiple projects to meet timelines and budgets. Understanding of RSVP, LDP, and PIM; data center network design. Knowledge of transport technologies (Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi-Fi, cellular). Experience with layer-2 Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG). Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; able to work collaboratively toward goals. Certifications relevant to the discipline are highly valued. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum four years of relevant and progressive technical experience in a Carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment. High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications or related field is required. Or a combination of relevant work experience and/or education to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis; graduate degree may substitute for professional engineering experience.
