The Data Scientist is the primary driver behind advanced analytics supporting AbbVie Complete Access processes. A successful Data Scientist will translate business needs into analytical questions, conduct data exploration and model specification, design and perform rigorous analyses of operational, patient/customer, healthcare provider, and financial data, and translate these analytical findings into leading information for our business partners. The chosen candidate will act as an advisor for executive and management-level decision makers. This individual will also provide direction to IT on data governance and industry best practices, with a focus on agility and efficiency. This position is based in Abbott Park in North Chicago, IL (3 days onsite/2 days remote, 100% remote option is not available), relocation assistance is not available for this role. Responsibilities

Spearhead analytical initiatives that drive operational efficiency and patient engagement improvements. Help lead the development and calculation of metrics measuring the health of brand/program planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, patient engagement, and overall business delivery goals. Produce innovative analytic solutions that drive existing and changing patient access processes. Develop predictive algorithms using statistical learning methods to solve complex business questions. Be a thought leader in the application of cutting-edge predictive methods (e.g., neural networks, computer vision, etc.) and the technology needed to support them. Utilize operational analytics and project management tools to optimize the execution of analytic initiatives and studies, manage internal and external resources, track patient journey life cycles, and prepare status reports. Anticipate and identify issues that could affect timelines and propose solutions. Interact with senior levels of management and cross-functional team members to achieve program objectives. Represent the data science team in cross-functional forums and, if assigned, leadership meetings. Set direction on business data management and closely collaborate with IT to set priorities. Create and conduct team trainings. Various training modules cover data science programming, statistical learning methods, and technology platforms. Operationalize data science models using Data Science Machine Learning (DSML) toolkits. Responsible for supervising and monitoring data science interns and/or contractors. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Data Science/Analytics or related field with 8+ years of experience required; Masters in Statistics, Analytics, Operation Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or related field and 5+ years of relevant professional work experience as a data scientist preferred; PhD will also be considered. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data science programming in languages such as R, Python, Shiny, and SQL. Track record of deploying models/applications into operational environments. 5+ years experience with regression analysis, times series forecasting, modern optimization methods, spatial analysis, machine learning, and deep learning. Practiced in exploratory data analysis (EDA) and manipulating large data sets. Familiarity with navigating both relational and non-relational DBMS environments. SQL skillset is strongly desired. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to present advanced analytical concepts to senior management. Experience within Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry strongly preferred. Experience supervising data scientists and/or analysts is desired. Additional Information

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
