Senior Structural Project Engineer
with
8+ years of experience
to join their dynamic team and lead complex building projects from concept through construction. This is a career-defining opportunity for a technically proficient and client-facing engineer who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment. Responsibilities
Lead the structural design of major building projects using steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, mass timber, and hybrid systems. Perform advanced analysis including:
Nonlinear time-history simulations Performance-based seismic design Foundation-structure interaction modeling Progressive collapse and blast resistance assessments
Develop comprehensive design packages including calculations, narratives, and specifications. Ensure full compliance with applicable codes (IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, NDS, etc.) and local amendments. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and staffing. Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, geotechnical consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of structural systems. Lead internal design reviews and quality assurance processes. Oversee production of construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring clarity and constructability. Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings; conduct site visits and issue field reports; resolve field issues and maintain design intent. Collaborate with contractors to optimize construction sequencing and cost efficiency. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, developers, and public agencies. Lead proposal development, fee estimation, and client presentations; identify and pursue new business opportunities in collaboration with firm leadership. Mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering technical growth and professional development; lead internal training sessions on advanced design topics and software tools. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Qualifications
Education & Licensure Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master's preferred). California PE license required; SE license strongly preferred. Experience Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering for buildings. Proven track record of leading projects through all phases, including design, documentation, and construction. Experience with high-seismic design, retrofit projects, and performance-based engineering. Technical Proficiency Expert-level proficiency in ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, SAFE, ADAPT, RISA, and MathCAD. Advanced Revit and AutoCAD skills; BIM coordination experience preferred. Familiarity with Bluebeam, Navisworks, and project management platforms (e.g., Deltek, Newforma). Soft Skills Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
