Reports To: Senior Structural Engineer
Nexus is a design + build construction group dedicated to delivering innovative and efficient solutions. Nexus provides optimized structural solutions for clients specific needs and timeline. Our projects include new buildings, existing buildings alterations and renovations, shaping iconic contributions to the New York City Skyline.
Key Responsibilities: Perform structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, masonry, timber structures using software. Evaluate retrofit and renovation designs for existing buildings. Prepare and review construction documents, calculations, and reports compliant with NYC Building Codes, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NDS. Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to integrate structural systems Perform special inspections and local law inspections. Conduct site visits to assess existing structures, review construction progress, and resolve field issues. Participate in project meetings and client presentations.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Masters preferred). Licensure: EIT required; PE license in NY (or ability to obtain within 1 year) strongly preferred. Experience: 2 4 years in structural design, with exposure to NYC projects (high-rises, commercial, or residential). Software Skills: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural, SAP2000). Local Authority Approval Knowledge: Familiarity with NYC DOB regulations, filing applications. Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
