Assistant Project Manager (PEMB Construction)

Exempt Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager assists in managing pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) projects from planning through closeout. This role offers hands-on exposure to project coordination, scheduling, vendor communications, and construction management. The ideal candidate is eager to learn PEMB systems, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while working under the guidance of senior project staff. Key Responsibilities Support the project team in managing schedules, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation. Coordinate with PEMB manufacturers and vendors regarding design submittals, delivery dates, and changes. Attend project meetings and prepare minutes, progress updates, and action item lists. Track material deliveries and site logistics in coordination with field teams. Review construction drawings and specifications to assist with planning and troubleshooting. Maintain accurate digital project records, logs, and reports. Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotes, clarify scope, and confirm delivery timelines. Learn and apply best practices in safety, quality control, and project closeout. Observe and assist with jobsite inspections and punch list completion.
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Internship or 12 years of experience in a construction-related role a plus (e.g., field engineering, project coordination). Interest in pre-engineered metal buildings and structural systems.
Skills & Competencies
Strong organizational and time management skills. Eagerness to learn construction project management processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Excel, or similar). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Willingness to visit job sites and work in varying field conditions.
Physical & Environmental Demands
Primarily office-based with periodic jobsite visits. Ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders and walking on uneven terrain. Occasional travel to project locations may be required.
