Information Technology Specialist 2 - Field Support Specialist
to join our team! This role will be responsible for providing timely support for day-to-day technical issues related to IT systems and processes. You will work closely with higher-level Information Technology Specialists within DOM DoIT to meet the IT operational requirements of various sites. Responsibilities Provide timely support for technical issues related to IT systems and processes. Travel to sites within a defined region of the State of Iowa. Collaborate with higher-level Information Technology Specialists to support business functions. Manage local computers, ensuring they are functional and secure. Perform routine software and firmware patching. Communicate requirements to maintain computer functionality to higher-level specialists and DoIT management. Support computer peripherals connected to or available locally at the site. Install networking equipment and implement configurations using pre-defined setup documentation or central management mechanisms. Troubleshoot network issues at the port and cable levels. Monitor site ICN circuits and other external communication circuits, and communicate any outages. Install and replace network and network patch cables as necessary. Ensure the site's desktop productivity suite is accessible and properly patched. Understand and troubleshoot basic operations of the site's business-specific applications.
Working Arrangement
This position requires onsite work in Des Moines, IA each week. Employees meeting all expectations of their work responsibilities may request remote work and develop a hybrid/remote schedule collaboratively with their manager. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Note: To pass the initial screening, applicants must demonstrate the technical skills listed below: Experience equal to two years of full-time work in areas such as operating a multi-job computer, installing/maintaining computer networks, databases, business applications, operating systems, LANs/servers, IT customer service, or designing/administering Internet sites; or completion of an approved curriculum/specialized training program developed with state government; or twelve semester hours of accredited post-high school education in one of the listed specialty areas; or certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in a directly related area (may substitute for one year of experience); or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting thirty semester hours of education for six months of experience; or employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as an Information Technology Specialist 1.
