Leidos Defense Systems, Sensor Systems Analysis & Engineering Portfolio is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team for electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) applications. You will join a diverse team of junior-to-senior software developers, engineers, and scientists to help create unique solutions for complex problems. Our team solves important problems that make a difference and support our customers in the current and future defense of our nation, primarily in sensor integration, testing, characterization, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm development for EO/IR systems. Leidos Defense Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. This role emphasizes developing software to support overlapping engineering and scientific disciplines with a focus on problem solving. Primary Responsibilities
Work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to write software (primarily C++ and Python) to solve problems in EO/IR sensor systems and related disciplines. Interface and troubleshoot with hardware via Ethernet, USB, RS-232, high-speed I/O, and other interfaces as needed. Work and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team with familiarity supporting both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant software-related experience plus 4-8 years of related work experience, or Master's degree with 2-6 years of related work experience. Intermediate ability in C++ and Python. Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
Preferred Qualifications
Opportunity for leadership growth; ability to lead small software projects and manage multiple projects with strong object-oriented design skills. Ability to create design documentation, requirements specifications, and other technical documentation. Recent strong academic performance. Active SECRET clearance or above. Experience with camera interfaces (Camera Link, CoaXPress, GigE Vision, etc.). Experience with version control systems such as Git; familiarity with EO/IR phenomenology. Experience with image processing, GPU programming and/or CUDA, developing AI/ML solutions, and building systems such as CMake.
