Firmware Engineer - High Speed IO Cables role at Amphenol Communications Solutions. Location: Nashua, NH (on-site). Amphenol High Speed Products Group is a leader in high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for Telecom/Datacom and related markets. Our global headquarters are in Nashua, NH, with design, sales and manufacturing locations worldwide. We are expanding our software team and seeking a Firmware Engineer for High Speed Cables. Responsibilities
Design, develop, debug and support firmware for active high speed IO cables and thermal loopbacks, including collaboration with customers and chip manufacturers. Contribute as a key firmware resource on product teams turning concepts into manufacturable products. Provide engineering support to fine-tune communication settings and interfaces as needed. Work with developers responsible for manufacturing applications. Provide firmware support to product qualification, testing and manufacturing. Mentor other team members as needed. Ensure firmware documentation is thorough so it can be supported by others. Visit Amphenol manufacturing plants during product ramp up, as needed. Qualifications
BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 5+ years of firmware development experience on bare metal or equivalent. Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M0/M0+ and embedded solutions from sub 32KB Flash, including GPIO, ADCs, and interrupts. Strong understanding of I2C, including debugging and supporting a bit-banged bus. Experience developing page-based host interfaces for I2C Slaves (e.g., CMIS or Small Form Factor devices). Working knowledge of SWD debugging. Comfortable working in a team that shares code and participates in peer reviews. Hands-on experience with source control systems and regular code check-ins. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong English reading/writing ability. Self-starter who can work efficiently with incomplete requirements. Dynamic, adaptable, and able to think creatively. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teams and global, hybrid environments using tools like Teams and Zoom. Experience with I2C and SPI buses, logic analyzers, and signal integrity concepts. Familiarity with low-level hardware interfaces and reading chip datasheets. Experience with high-speed communication equipment and SFF standards. Experience with Digital Signal Processors and prototype hardware/lab settings. Ability to improvise testing with breadboards and jumpers. Hands-on experience with Keil, C8051 8-bit MCUs, and C++ (Visual Studio). Experience with SVN and Linux/command line environments. About Amphenol
