Overview

Human Resources Generalist – Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD). Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the HR Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the HR office, including high-volume recruiting, employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, compensation and benefits, leave management, HRIS administration, and policy guidance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a main point of contact with team members to answer questions and help employees navigate all aspects of HR.
  • Benefits administration: liaison between employees and benefit providers; enrollment, open enrollment, COBRA administration, 401k, ACA compliance, and monthly benefit billing.
  • Compliance: ensure compliance with labor laws, maintain employee records, and assist with HR audits. Administer full life cycle of leaves (FMLA, PDL, PTO, Worker’s Compensation) as required by law in a timely fashion.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training and work plans (e.g., safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams, and certifications).
  • Perform routine HR tasks including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Program Development: design, develop, and implement training programs and learning materials for employees and managers.
  • Delivery: conduct training sessions and orientations on policies, HR initiatives, and skill development.
  • Employee Relations: advise on employee relations matters, including performance management, grievances, disciplinary actions, and investigations.
  • Assist employees and management in interpreting and applying HR policies and Wage & Hour law.
  • Enforce policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: manage full recruitment lifecycle, plan for training needs, ensure resources are available, and coordinate onboarding of candidates.
  • Onboarding: process new hire paperwork and facilitate bi-weekly first-day orientation and monthly employee cohort orientation.
  • Analysis & Reporting: develop reports, complete filings and submissions timely; proactively fulfill management reporting needs; HR recruiting metrics; present grievances to managers (investigations conducted by managers) and provide monthly updates on corrective actions.
  • Manage all aspects of employee departures (voluntary and involuntary).
  • Craft clear messaging that aligns with CRCD’s mission and objectives.
  • Support Performance Evaluation processes by facilitating conversations.
  • Support policy development and documentation.
  • Ensure completion of all Staff Requisitions.
  • Uphold CRCD’s Mission Statement and 5 Year Strategic Plan.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3-5 years related experience in Human Resources.
  • Advanced training in employment law, leave of absence, and/or PHR/SHRM certification.
  • Experience supporting employee relations topics and culture-building initiatives; ability to handle confidential information ethically.
  • Attention to detail and emotional awareness; sound, independent judgment; knowledge of federal, state, and local HR laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR and talent management.
  • Proven data management experience, web-based reporting, and HR metrics; experience with executive-level reporting and summarization.
  • Experience with Paylocity HR & Payroll, Time & Labor, and reporting.
  • Reliable, flexible collaborator with the ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal manners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solver with innovative thinking.
  • Advanced reporting skills: Excel, Word, data entry; typing speed ~50 wpm.
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Role requires on-site presence Monday-Friday during operating hours.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $60,000-$70,000

Benefits: Paid holidays; background check required by Los Angeles County.
