The role of the Systems Administrator is to install, configure, and maintain all aspects of the New Era core infrastructure. This role is a part of the IT Service Operations team with knowledge in server management (Azure, Windows, VMWare), cloud operations, networking, backup, and storage.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, upgrade, and document all aspects of the New Era’s core infrastructure systems

Manage operating system updates and software patches

Oversee support of all physical equipment in data center including servers, switches, routers, and firewalls

Assist the IT Service Operation team acting as tier 3 support which includes solving complex application, server, and network issues as well as escalating tickets with vendors

Act as the technical systems resource on cross-functional projects and provide recommendations on infrastructure questions

Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement and troubleshoot business applications

Maintain and support mission critical applications, servers, and networking infrastructure in a 24/7 business environment

Create and maintains comprehensive documentation for servers, networks, and disaster recovery procedures

Drive root cause analysis and remediation to system and application incidents

Identify areas of IT system capacity and makes recommendations to ensure optimal system performance and availability

Stay current with advances in technology to meet IT and New Era Cap’s strategic goals

Keep all sensitive matters confidential

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficiency in Windows Server Administration, Active Directory, O365, Azure, Exchange Online, macOS, DNS, and virtualization platforms such as Azure, Hyper-V, and VMWare

Demonstrated understanding of Disaster Recovery and how to implement robust backup and recovery processes

Ability to work with enterprise desktop deployment tools such as Intune, PDQ, and Kandji (Mac)

Working knowledge of network technologies including the configuration of switches and routers

Mobile device management using Intune

Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting on Windows Servers and macOS devices

Experience working with Zendesk or comparable service ticket tools

Superior customer service skills

Strong desire to assist the team and share knowledge

Proven documentation and technical troubleshooting skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Enthusiastic, positive person who embraces work with a sense of urgency and persistence

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; additional experience in lieu of degree considered

Three (3) to five (5) years experience in providing Systems Support and Administration to medium-to-large companies is required

Experience with ITIL/ITSM Concepts required

Knowledge with SAP ERP and SAP Commerce Cloud preferred

Microsoft and VMWare certifications a plus

The salary range for this posted position is $75,000 - $95,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
