Position Summary

HASI is currently seeking a Manager with experience in asset-based lending, renewable energy, or structured finance to join our team. This individual will work in the Investment Group on the Credit Team to originate, structure, negotiate, and grow HASI's investment portfolio. The types of investments will primarily include energy efficiency projects, while also collaborating with other teams within the Investment Group in other technology sectors. The core responsibilities of the role will include leading the bidding, conversion, and closing processes while overseeing the structuring, negotiation, and execution of transactions. The role will require working within a deal team, both reporting up to a Director and at times overseeing a junior team member, as well as communicating across internal business units to complete the transaction responsibilities.

Salary Range :

Expected salary range of $145,000 - $175,000, based on experience and location. Responsibilities

Investing Activities

Lead transactions through the entire lifecycle with guidance from the transaction Director, from initial qualification and bidding to conversion and due diligence, and ultimately through the documentation and closing process. Be the team member that advances transactions and workstreams through the transaction cycle.

Lead the initial transaction assessment within the parameters of the Credit Team's investment goals and communicate with the team's Director and Managing Director to determine an investment recommendation. Develop and implement a work plan to pursue the transaction and obtain a mandate from the client.

Lead and oversee the due diligence processes for investments including analyzing terms in underlying project agreements such as service contracts, construction agreements, and financing agreements. Oversee the credit analysis on transaction counterparties and incorporate findings into transaction structure and documentation recommendations.

Oversee a transaction execution plan in collaboration with team members that includes developing key action steps, collaborating with cross-functional teams (legal, accounting, and transaction management), and delegating tasks among team members.

Be the point person on communications with external stakeholders including clients, transaction counsel, and leverage partners. Communicate feedback with deal team and collaborate to develop and implement appropriate structuring and documentation steps.

Capital Markets Activities

Support the process of identifying and executing with leverage partners for transactions, including assisting in negotiation of documents, facilitating due diligence requests, supporting the closing process, and overseeing the financial model. Work closely with the Director to understand leverage parameters when initially qualifying transactions and developing transaction structures and documentation.

Portfolio Management

Work closely with the members of the Portfolio Management team to provide transaction expertise to assist in commercial decision making relating to post closing activities. Support the servicing of assets including modifications and consents and facilitate communication with clients and leverage partners.

Collaborate with the Risk Management team to communicate the risk considerations and associated mitigants for both specific transactions and broadly for the portfolio.

Specific Recommended Knowledge and Skills

Proven experience in asset-based lending, structured finance, and/or securitization markets with a clear understanding of associated documentation, transaction structures, and overall execution.

Mastery of MS Excel financial modeling with demonstrable experience working with debt and project finance models, and ability to manipulate and refine models on short timelines.

Process oriented with ability to develop goal-oriented tasks and drive a project forward as a transaction lead.

Ability to keep track of multiple tasks and workstreams with high attention to detail and clear sense of responsibilities within a team dynamic.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to distill and communicate information to team members as well as lead conversations with a variety of external stakeholders.

Dependable and reliable, excellent at taking initiative and being productive without supervision, and being a supportive team member.

Familiarity with energy infrastructure, energy service companies, and/or climate investing preferred.

Education and Prior work Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution.

At least 5 years of experience in asset-based lending, structured finance and/or securitization.
