Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist
Job Description
Join our team as a Shipping and Receiving Specialist, where you will play a vital role in our logistics department. This open-ended contract position offers the potential for growth into a driving role. You will be responsible for managing the flow of materials and equipment, ensuring accurate shipping and receiving operations, and utilizing computer systems for tracking and labeling.
Responsibilities
Unload materials, parts, supplies, tools, and equipment from carriers and company vehicles, routing items to their proper destinations within the plant.
Segregate and process discrepant items or shipments according to standard procedures.
Identify and label materials, parts, tools, and items by marking, tagging, and/or coding.
Safely operate forklifts and company trucks up to 1 ½ tons for local and Los Angeles area pick-ups and deliveries.
Count, package, and protect parts and tooling for shipment, constructing pallets and crates as necessary.
Ensure the safe loading and unloading of equipment and parts, balancing and securing loads to prevent damage or loss.
Perform checks on lift trucks and company vehicles, including tires, brakes, lights, gas, water, and oil levels, and maintain cleanliness. Notify the supervisor of any needed repairs or maintenance.
Handle necessary paperwork, verifying pickup and delivery orders by checking descriptions, part/tool numbers, and quantities.
Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
Essential Skills
Minimum of two years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in shipping and receiving.
Proficiency in operating forklifts and driving company vehicles.
Ability to count accurately and maintain detailed computer logs and records.
Must possess a valid California Driver's License and have an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Ability to read and write English at a level required to fulfill essential job functions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a warehouse environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with others and follow instructions from the Shop Supervisor.
Must be insurable and able to provide a current MVR.
