Within Navy Federal, the Savings & Membership Department (SMD) drives the identification of new and innovative ways to inspire and enable a better financial future for our members by focusing on their Lifetime Journey, Money Management, and Money Movement. Digital Payments is a division of SMD that is tasked to shape products providing personalized, scalable, and secure Money Movement experiences that continuously exceed members' evolving payment expectations.

The Summer Associate will join the Technology, Innovation, Experience and Strategy (TIES) Technology Solutions Team which drives innovation through effective project management, robust implementation of technology solutions, and strategic systems management in partnership with technology teams and business partners. The team is committed to delivering innovative technology solutions, optimizing processes, and empowering informed decision-making to support the strategic goals and success of the organization.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.

Responsibilities

Assess the competitive landscape of competitor products and services including potential disruptive technologies

Identify opportunities to integrate AI into existing dashboards/applications (i.e. natural language querying, forecasting, etc.)

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for new/improved functionality

Develop recommendations for delivery of strategic initiatives or products based on research, findings, data, and other empirical evidence

Develop work breakdown structure which can be used to deliver high-level roadmaps and/or detailed action plans as applicable

Develop and present proposals on findings from analysis and research to leadership

Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of a project team

Qualifications

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field

Experience with research, analysis, and data manipulation

Knowledge of, or experience using, data and analytics tools such as PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, SPSS Modeler, R, Tableau, or equivalent

Strong communication and presentation skills

Ability to work effectively both independently and in group settings

Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills

Basic knowledge of financial services/payments is a plus

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
