Our client is hiring an executive to play a critical role in overseeing the financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance requirements related to joint ventures and partnerships for a growing commercial real estate investment and property management company. This individual will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and executive leadership team to ensure accurate reporting, effective controls, and strong financial management across complex ownership structures.
Serving as a trusted resource to ownership, investors, and operating partners, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timeliness in partnership reporting while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Joint Venture & Partnership Accounting
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting for multiple real estate joint ventures and partnerships.
- Manage capital account maintenance, partner allocations, distributions, and equity roll-forwards.
- Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, debt covenants, and investor reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams on JV-related matters.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for partnership entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and provide variance analysis and insights to senior leadership.
- Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Support tax compliance processes by collaborating with the in-house tax team and external providers.
Investor & Partner Relations
- Prepare investor reporting packages, including financial statements, waterfalls, and capital activity reporting.
- Partner with the CFO to communicate financial results and trends to ownership and joint venture partners.
- Assist with lender and investor requests, including banker packages and covenant compliance reporting.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing accounting team, instilling a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with property management, asset management, and finance teams to ensure accuracy of property-level data and alignment with JV reporting.
- Support the executive team in strategic initiatives and special projects.
The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting leader with deep expertise in joint venture and partnership accounting within commercial real estate. They bring a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with ownership, investors, and operating partners.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- CPA designation required (active license preferred)
- Public accounting experience ideally at a large firm
- 812 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in commercial real estate joint venture/partnership accounting
- Prior experience in real estate industry
- Strong working knowledge of property management and accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, MRI)
- Demonstrated success in leading accounting teams and managing complex entity structures
- Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills
