Job Title: Vice President of Finance
Position Overview
The Vice President of Finance is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for directing the financial strategy, planning, and operations of the companys real estate portfolio. This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, capital structuring, investor relations, and risk management. The VP of Finance partners with senior leadership to support growth initiatives, optimize financial performance, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the companys real estate acquisitions, dispositions, development, and asset management.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the executive team to drive profitability and value creation.
- Evaluate capital markets and structure debt and equity financing to optimize the companys capital stack.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and cash management for all corporate and property-level entities.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes across the corporate platform and property portfolio.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling for investment and development opportunities.
- Partner with acquisitions, development, and asset management teams to underwrite and evaluate real estate transactions.
- Support due diligence and financial modeling for acquisitions, joint ventures, and dispositions.
- Advise on lease negotiations, property valuations, and capital improvement planning.
Investor & Lender Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with equity partners, lenders, and other financial stakeholders.
- Prepare financial presentations and reporting packages for investors, joint venture partners, and financial institutions.
- Manage covenant compliance and communication with lenders.
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting teams, ensuring strong collaboration across departments.
- Build a high-performing finance team aligned with company goals and culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within real estate.
- Strong knowledge of real estate accounting, financial modeling, and capital markets.
- Proven experience raising and structuring debt and equity financing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software, real estate systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Argus), and Excel.
