Summary:
Provides management supervision for Programmers/Analysts/IT associates assigned to his/her software applications team. Identifies, recommends, develops, implements, and supports cost effective Computer Systems solutions. Project management, resource management. Coaches Programmer/ Analyst tasks. Supports hospital Information Systems Applications for multiple platforms and locations. Oversight of software implementations, system maintenance, customer service, code writing, and trouble-shooting, etc. Manages technical solutions for business and/or clinical needs, combining extensive business and technical knowledge. Tracks and prioritizes service requests. Manages vendors. Crafts standards, specifications and policies for IT services. Facilitates performance improvement and best practices. Manages to various regulations, from HIPAA to COBRA. Financial stewardship- budget planning and accountability. Regular meetings with customers.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
College Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field plus five (5) years of professional experience; or eight (8) - ten (10) years equivalent business experience in lieu of degree
EXPERIENCE
Minimum five (5)-seven (7) years demonstrated knowledge of computer systems analysis and design, computer programming, and software implementation techniques, tools, and standards
Minimum five (5) years of Healthcare experience, in a Systems related capacity
Minimum five (5) years of Management experience, preferably with large staff, and multiple locations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Proven project management
Proven accomplishments in IT best practices and IT process improvement
Proven ability to hire/ fire/ evaluate staff with various technical skills
Proficiency with Change Gear or similar automated Event tracking system
Knowledge of applicable regulations and laws
Extensive computer experience, with personal computers and larger systems, and with personal computer applications, including Windows, and MicroSoft Office applications
Excellent verbal & written communication skills and ability to present technology information in audience-friendly terms
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Proven ability to establish good working relationships with hospital staff at all levels
Ability and means to travel among Catholic Health sites, including valid driver's license
Demonstrated track record of project documentation, and production of management information
Demonstrated track record of facilitating workgroups and decision making
Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and empower
Ability to successfully complete any required training and/or certifications pertinent to software support
Ability to travel to vendor sponsored training and user events; this may include air travel and overnight stays outside of WNY
SKILLS SPECIFIC TO ASSIGNED COVERAGE AREA (this section may vary among Applications Managers)
Demonstrated knowledge of Hospital Revenue Cycle software applications and integration between them
Proven track record in Hospital Revenue Cycle: Registration, HIM, Patient Accounts
Knowledge and previous implementation of Epic EMR desirable
Demonstrated knowledge of Clinical Information software applications and integration between them
Proven track record in clinical processes, workflows and quality/patient safety
Demonstrated knowledge of Learning Management Systems
Proven track record with integration of multiple healthcare applications
Knowledge and previous experience in Healthcare Integration technologies
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs
Regular exposure to terminal / PC Screens
Projects usually involve departments at several if not all campuses, therefore requiring travel between campuses
Position requires flexible scheduling which may include covering evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays in to provide implementation support
Position may require routine on call assignment requiring individual to be available by phone and have access to a computer, internet access, and ability to log in. On call responsibilities may also require individual to come on site if necessary
