Elite SQL Server Database Administrator

We are searching for an elite SQL Server Database Administrator with deep expertise in performance tuning and query optimization for Azure SQL Database. This is not a general DBA role we need someone who thrives on diagnosing bottlenecks, re-engineering queries, and tuning every aspect of database performance until it runs at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate has a proven record of turning slow, resource-heavy systems into fast, lean, and reliable engines using advanced indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, statistics tuning, and Azure-native monitoring and optimization tools. Key Responsibilities: Performance Tuning & Optimization -- Analyze execution plans, waits, and indexes to identify performance bottlenecks. Optimize queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for maximum throughput. Implement database partitioning, statistics tuning, and parameter sniffing mitigation strategies. Fine-tune Azure SQL resource utilization (DTUs/vCores, IOPS, memory usage). Identify and resolve deadlocks, blocking, and excessive I/O or CPU consumption. Monitoring & Diagnostics -- Use Azure Monitor, Query Store, Extended Events, and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs) to track performance metrics and detect anomalies. Build proactive monitoring dashboards and alerts. Conduct periodic performance health checks and optimization cycles. Database Architecture & Maintenance -- Advise on schema design improvements for scalability and performance. Implement best practices for indexing, partitioning, and table design. Manage database security, backups, and disaster recovery processes in Azure SQL. Collaborate with developers to ensure performant SQL code from the start.
