Position Mission: To assist the Plant Manager and Health & Safety Supervisor foster a workplace culture of safety, well-being, and resilience by proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure the health and safety of all employees, visitors, and stakeholders. To assist in creating an environment where everyone feels supported, informed, and equipped to make sound decisions that promote a safe and healthy work environment through the use of continuous education, training, and communication, and empower individuals at all levels to prioritize safety in their daily activities. Responsibilities: Perform site-specific training for Drake Cement employees, vendors, and contractors. Assist in conducting part 46 training for Drake and contractor employees to fulfil regulatory training requirements. Perform inspections through visual observations of all activities at Drake Cement locations to determine compliance with suitable safety procedures. Perform site H&S audits and inspections, including plant leadership audits, to identify and mitigate Environmental, Health, and Safety Hazards on an as-needed basis. Stimulate and cultivate 'a zero-incident mentality' with all individuals onsite through safety and collaborative meetings to promote alignment with Corporate H&S goals. Assess safety risks, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions to mitigate or eliminate risk conditions, behaviors, and other factors resulting from safety incidents and near misses. Participate actively in department safety meetings to assure alignment with Corporate safety goals and provide all stakeholders with the appropriate safety metrics. Maintain safety training certifications and track safety performance through site data collection systems and MSHA/OSHA information retrieval systems to promote continuous improvement programs and employee accountability. Partner with Operations Leadership at multiple levels to ensure site operations are properly aligned and supported to promote a safe work environment at all locations in the plant and quarry. Collaborate with Corporate EHS management regularly to ensure consistent alignment of initiatives and goals, including assisting with safety supervision of Cement Plant activities. Work with management teams and field workers to develop and implement solutions on safety and environmental-related findings brought forth during site inspections and audits to promote a daily safe work area, and consistent compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations. Participate in site construction project communications meetings and pre-construction startup assessments to ensure safety equipment and regulatory requirements are fully incorporated into engineering plans and adequately vetted. Participate in the Site Safety leadership inspection program to contribute to overall safety performance. Perform duties as requested by the Health & Safety Supervisor/Manager to maintain the health & safety standards required by all applicable regulations and policies at Drake Cement.
