As a Commercial Lender at Security Savings Bank, you will play a key role in evaluating and managing commercial loan applications. Your role involves assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, recommending loan approvals, and managing ongoing loan relationships. You will work directly with clients and prospects in understanding their financial goals, addressing their borrowing needs, and contributing to their success while upholding the bank’s commitment to integrity and community support. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a dedication to exceptional customer service. Developing new customer relationships with the bank through strong business development activities will be a high priority with this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Meets with current and prospective commercial clients to discuss the bank’s loan products and services. Stay informed and understand the bank’s lending policies, regulatory requirements, economic conditions, market rates, and industry trends, including competitors and vendors. Collect financial statements, tax returns, and other financial information from customers to assist in underwriting and evaluating their credit situation. Ensure the timely execution of new loans and manage existing loan portfolios efficiently. Negotiates loan rates and terms with customers within set guidelines, while maximizing profitability for the bank. Approves or rejects loans and terms with clients in accordance with officer limits and bank policies. Actively seek and engage with potential clients to build and diversify the bank’s customer base. Obtains the necessary documentation to perfect liens, clear real estate titles, and complete other requirements to facilitate a loan closing. Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary actions to collect from past-due accounts. Works with lending staff to ensure all proper documentation is in the loan files and assists in obtaining additional necessary documentation. Participates in relevant committees as required by the bank. Assists with the collection and recovery of defaulted loans. Performs collateral inspections. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to maintain current and thorough knowledge of all lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Strong familiarity with mortgage processes, procedures, rules, regulations, and compliance; knowledge of federal, state and local levels of loan processing laws and regulations with the ability to communicate these laws in a non-technical and conversational manner to customers. Ability to develop and maintain respect for all employees and management; demonstrates a commitment to the company’s culture. Must have strong analytical skills and perception; will be required to accurately assess clients’ financial statements to ensure creditworthiness. Strong attention to detail; must be comfortable working with minuscule details. Must be familiar and/or comfortable with computers and software applications related to banking. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field is preferred. 2+ years’ experience in the banking, lending, or real estate industry.
