Group Leader - School Age Program

Group Leaders provide direct supervision to children in grades K-8 who attend the Bow Recreation Center Before and After School Programs and/or Summer Program and ensure the safety and engagement of children in their assigned group while ensuring that the program meets the highest standards of excellence. Supervision: The Group Leader receives general supervision and policy direction from the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director and the Site Coordinator. Supervision Exercised: The Group Leader assists the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director and the Site Coordinator with supervision of Assistant Group Leaders. Examples of Duties: Responsible for the supervision, safety and accident prevention of all participants. Acts as a positive role model to all participants at all times. Strives to establish positive relations for the Recreation Department and the Town of Bow. Facilitates purposeful and engaging activities. Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play and welcomes children. Maintains facility cleanliness and assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff. Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance and learning environment of each classroom. Administers First Aid and CPR when necessary. Takes attendance, completes accident and incident reports when necessary and informs supervisor of any issues or concerns that may require immediate attention. Maintains accurate classroom records as assigned and according to program requirements. Adheres to program standards and all risk management policies and procedures including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Gears the program to the needs of individual children with concerns for their interests, handicaps, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning. Helps children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group. Participates in required trainings.
