The Concord Recreation Department seeks enthusiastic,dedicated individuals who love working with children for our School AgeChildcare Programs (After School, Before School or Wednesday Afternoon Programs). The ideal candidates will have knowledge and understandingof the needs of school age children grades k-5 Candidates are required to meet EEC qualifications for Group Leader. Theideal candidate is flexible and willing to work as part of team to contributeto a fun and engaging curriculum. Thesuccessful candidate will have access to ongoing training and competitivecompensation and have the opportunity to enroll their age-appropriate childrenin our program with no tuition cost and special discounted rates for otherprograms.

This is a10 month school year position following the Concord Public School calendar fromlate August until early June.

Salary range: $17.75 - $25 per hour, basedon experience and education.

Position Description:

Under the supervision of theChildcare Services Manager and a Recreation Supervisor, Group Leaders reportdaily to the Site Coordinator at one of our school age childcare site. Group Leaders are responsible for the supervision andmanagement of students grades K-5 in the program while maintaining aclassroom/group in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of theConcord Recreation School Age Childcare Programs Program. Afterchool Hours M TTh F 3P-6P W 12P-6P Before School Hours M-F7:30A-9A. Flexible Schedule available. After School and Before School positionscan be combined.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Ability to work in a high energy environment with students grades K-5. - Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for all students and staff. - Implement, and assist with planning of, curriculum, meeting the social-emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the children based on the goals, philosophy and general curriculum plan of the School Age Childcare Program. - Provide written program plans for the Site Coordinator and Childcare Manager, as requested. - Ensure the health and safety of children through constant supervision, arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment and knowledge of emergency procedures. - Maintain written records of individual progress, with the assistance of Site Coordinator, to be reviewed annually. - Communicate, when asked, with parents and other staff through daily contact. - Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and professional development training, as required by EEC and the Childcare Manager. - Attend conferences and workshops to achieve personal goals and promote professional growth and to meet professional development goals. - Show awareness of specific individual health plans and comply with plans, including required training (EPI pen administration, insulin pump operation, etc.). - Exhibit knowledge about and adhere to program policies and procedures, including those for emergencies, medication administration, suspected abuse/neglect and referrals. - Operate the classroom/site in compliance with EEC regulations, DOE Standards and QRIS requirements. - Comply with personnel policies of the Town of Concord, Concord Recreation and EEC/Childcare Programs.

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS & ABILITIES: - Ability to work in a high-energy environment with children grades K-5. - Working knowledge of child development and teaching strategies. - Good written and oral communication skills.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Must be 18 years of age or have a HS diploma - Must have a suitable BRC - Must meet EEC work experience and education requirements for Group Leader Qualifications - Bachelor Degree in Education or related field, preferred - Must have completed (or complete within 2 months of hire) EEC Essentials Training - Must comply with EEC Background Records Check regulations and Professional Qualification Registry requirements. - Must attend staff orientation

WORKINGCONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk andhear. Uses hands to finger, handles,feels or operates objects, tools or controls and reaches with hands and arms asin picking up paper, files and other common office objects. Employee may infrequently lift and/or moveobjects weighing up to 60 pounds such as tools and supplies, etc. Operates computer, printer, video display terminal, keyboard,calculator, telephone, copier, facsimile machine and all other standard officeequipment requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Balancing,crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching and stooping may also be required.
