GovFirst is seeking to hire a Traffic Signal Operations Engineer
to support our engineering opportunities in
Staunton, Culpeper, and Richmond, VA
within the
Transportation Operations Division .
Position Overview:
The Traffic Signal Operations Engineer will analyze traffic patterns, calculate and optimize signal timing, and ensure efficient traffic throughput and safety across designated corridors. This role involves evaluating timing plans, configuring controller settings, and troubleshooting operational issues using traffic signal analytical and central control software.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze traffic patterns and turning movements to calculate optimal signal timing and controller settings. Allocate red, yellow, and green times to maximize traffic flow and improve roadway safety. Optimize traffic signal operations along corridors for efficiency and safety. Evaluate and review signal timing plans for compliance and performance. Utilize traffic signal analytical tools and central signal control software for system monitoring and adjustments. Troubleshoot signal timing and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution. Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in traffic signal timing and operations. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent relevant experience). Strong knowledge of traffic signal analytical software and central signal control systems. Skilled in troubleshooting timing, coordination, and operational safety issues. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
