Overview
Underwriting Manager – Middle Market General Industries. AXA XL is the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA. Our Middle Markets business focuses on mid-sized customers in the US Commercial P&C market. In this role you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters and selling our Middle Market products across the Eastern Territory to support growing this business. Responsibilities
Manage a team of underwriters across the Eastern Territory Achieve new business premium and renewal rate/retention goals, working with actuarial and claims to successfully deliver results consistent with financial plan Work alongside underwriters on referrals and developing their underwriting acumen Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to Chief Underwriting Officer and Referral Resources Ensure high quality service standards and compliance with all internal audit guidelines Collaborate in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants and management team Build strategic broker plan across the territory Travel throughout the territory for broker, client, and internal meetings Develop, maintain and service broker relationships within the distribution model. Coordinate with brokers to determine their marketing and education needs supported by AXA XL Middle Market Act as a representative of the company and our agents by attending internal/external company functions, agent sponsored and industry events Cross-sell across Middle Market business unit to maximize deployment of AXA XL’s capital You will report to the Head of General Industries and Excess Casualty. Qualifications
Extensive Middle Market insurance experience Willingness to lead a successful team of underwriters Robust insured and broker interaction across the United States with the ability to effectively target current and prospective clients Outstanding written and oral communication skills to work with both internal teams and external brokers in a team environment Outstanding organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills Outstanding comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite Bachelor’s degree required with advanced education and/or professional designations including but not limited to CPCU, IIA, CRIS preferred but not required Willingness to travel within assigned geographic territory Prior management experience preferred About AXA XL and Inclusion
