Dean, College of Science and Engineering
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering provides strategic leadership for all academic programs, research initiatives, and outreach activities within the college. The dean oversees curriculum developmentincluding dual-credit and online offeringschampions faculty development, and fosters a collaborative environment that advances teaching, scholarship, and service. The role also serves as the primary liaison between the college and university administration, accrediting and regulatory bodies, industry partners, and community stakeholders. Responsibilities
Directs and coordinates the work of academic department chairs and support staff, providing leadership in assessment, budgeting, class scheduling, curriculum and program development, personnel management, strategic planning, policy interpretation, and safety compliance. Develops and updates college policies and procedures to improve operations, and collaborates with senior university leaders to align college initiatives with institutional goals. Reviews and approves student degree plans; certifies the completion of all academic requirements for student graduation; provides academic advice and guidance to current or prospective students. Ensures appropriate delivery of the curriculum, both in person and online, to support student success. Oversees the annual faculty evaluation cycleincluding promotion and tenure reviewsassesses staff performance, and provides constructive feedback. Leads professional-development initiatives that advance teaching and research excellence among faculty and staff. Represents the college to internal and external audiences, cultivating relationships with alumni, industry partners, and community stakeholders to advance the college's mission and secure philanthropic support. Terminal degree in a science, engineering, or closely related discipline Excellence in teaching and scholarship suitable for appointment as a tenured faculty member in an academic discipline within the college At least two years of successful experience as an academic department chair or in an equivalent leadership role Preferred Qualifications
Five years of administrative experience at the department chair level or above. Physical Requirements
