Job Summary/Description

Under the administrative direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Norris-Vincent College of Business provides strategic leadership and overall direction for the College's academic programs, operations, and initiatives. The Dean is responsible for advancing the mission of the College by fostering excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Key responsibilities include overseeing curriculum development-including dual credit and online delivery-supporting faculty development and training, and ensuring program quality and compliance with accrediting and regulatory bodies.

The Dean also represents the College to internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, community leaders, industry partners, and professional organizations to strengthen relationships, promote student success, and enhance the College's visibility and impact.

Typical Duties/Job Duties Provide Leadership & Strategic Vision

- Guides the overall direction of the College, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and strategic priorities while fulfilling reporting requirements for accreditation agencies. Oversee Faculty & Staff Development

- Leads the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of faculty, professional and support staff, student workers, and students enrolled in the College's academic programs. Represent the College Externally

- Serves as the primary liaison between the College and the Texas Tech University System, University leadership, alumni, industry partners, and community stakeholders; actively engages in fundraising and institutional advancement initiatives. Manage Academic Programs & Assessment

- Oversees curriculum development, program evaluation, and academic assessment processes to ensure program quality and compliance with accreditation standards. Direct Administrative Operations

- Supervises the daily operations of the College, ensuring efficient resource management, budget oversight, and support of faculty and student success.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge Academic programs within the College. Applicable University policies, procedures, and practices. Principles and practices of higher education, including academic leadership and professional development. Principles and practices of effective human resource management and employee supervision. Budget preparation and administration. Requirements of relevant regulatory agencies and organizations, including accreditation agencies. Skills

Oral and written communication. Interpersonal relations and dynamics. Project planning and implementation. Academic leadership and team collaboration. Abilities

Plan, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate academic and related programs and functions. Coordinate effectively across a variety of programs and activities. Provide effective direction and supervision to faculty, staff, and student workers. Interpret and correctly apply University policies and procedures. Analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement appropriate resolutions. Minimum Qualifications

Earned doctorate in a business field or a closely related field. A distinguished record of excellent teaching, active research leading to peer-reviewed publications, and leadership in service that meets the College's and relevant Department's criteria for a tenured appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor in one of the academic Departments within the College. Minimum of five years' experience in academic administration at an AACSB accredited business school at the level of department chair or higher.
