Established in 1999, Freire Schools is a network of four charter schools across Philadelphia and Delaware whose mission is to prepare students from historically underserved communities for success in college and beyond. About the Team
For this Dean of Culture position, you'll be working for our middle school in center city Philadelphia called Freire Charter Middle School (5th-8th Grade): Freire Schools' youngest Dragons are preparing for college and changing what it means to be in middle school. We're constantly applying a persistent growth mindset to challenge the limits of what's possible in middle school and prepare students to succeed in a college prep high school. Freire Schools is committed to peace at all levels of its community, and aims to create a safe and welcoming environment for our middle school students. What You'll Do
As a member of our culture team, you'll foster a positive and inclusive school environment by implementing strategies to support student behavior, promote social-emotional learning, and foster a sense of belonging and respect among all members of the school community. Responsibilities
Work with school leadership and culture team to foster a positive school culture that supports the academic and social-emotional success of each student. Maintain safety and order and build relationships with students by being accessible and visible in hallways, classrooms, arrival/dismissal, lunch periods, and after school programs. Facilitate restorative conversations between members of the school community and de-escalate students crisis situations. Openly and regularly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior Maintain student databases with climate/discipline information. Who You Are

At least 3 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations, teaching experience preferred. Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done Ability to work well individually and as part of a team Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to engage students, parents, colleagues, and community members in supporting youth development Pay and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and more. Pennsylvania employees are enrolled in Freire's 403(b) retirement plan which includes a 5% contribution from Freire.
