Patient Service Associate - Duke Lake Norman Surgery and Breast Health
Summary of Responsibilities: Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation, patient check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, and appointment scheduling. Provide excellent customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, and referrals management. Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing patient schedules, entering pre-visit orders, and managing patient charts and records. Handle administrative tasks such as filing, medical records management, and attaching necessary documents. Verify patient information, check-in patients, and educate them on required forms. Manage billing, collect co-payments, and explain billing procedures to patients. Schedule tests and procedures, and coordinate labs and referrals. Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and communicate with physicians and staff accurately.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic PC and data entry skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette. Ability to organize, prioritize, and interact tactfully with patients and staff. Understanding of departmental policies related to patient verification, payments, and records.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of experience in patient service or related activities, preferably in healthcare.
