IT Technician I Or II

The IT Technician provides intermediate and advanced support for City staff by phone, in-person, email and via IT Service Management (ITSM) system. Performs a variety of computer systems support tasks, supporting of computing hardware, operating systems, and software applications, and communicating devices for the entire organization. All members of the team are expected to perform lower-level support tasks when needed to maintain service quality. Positions in this job series are flexibly staffed and may be filled by advancement from level I or, when filled from the outside, require previous experience. IT Technician I:
Under general direction, this is the entry-level position in the job series. Incumbents in this class have related work experience and may be considered to be in a training capacity. The IT Technician I is distinguished from the level II by the performance of less than full-range of duties assigned to the level II. Incumbents are expected to have a baseline of knowledge and skills related to the job requirements and ability to fully perform basic functions of the role, while exercising more independence and initiative as processes and procedures of assigned area of responsibility are learned. IT Technician II:
Under general direction, this is the journey-level position in the job series and is distinguished from level I by the ability to perform the full-range of duties including more complex responsibilities and serving as a lead with only occasional instruction or assistance as needed. Incumbents in this level must be able to work with independence and initiative and act in a leadership capacity on certain projects. Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. Minimum qualifications include an Associates degree of Science or Associates degree of Technology in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience. CJIS certified or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Technician I: 3+ years of relevant experience in IT support Working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) and A/V systems (Crestron preferred) ITIL Foundations Certification required Technician II: 4+ years of progressively responsible IT support experience with at least 2 years in a Tier I role A+ Certification Required Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff Proven record of resolving complex issues and improving processes Process Overview: Apply Today:
