Security Officer (WAE)

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking responsible and vigilant individuals to serve as Security Officer (WAE). These temporary/as-needed roles support the safety and security of juvenile justice facilities by helping maintain order, prevent incidents, and promote a safe environment for youth, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and passionate about public service and youth rehabilitation. Minimum Qualifications: A valid Louisiana Driver's License A High School Diploma is preferred Job Duties: Assist with clerical duties Assist with transports Monitor entrances, exits, and facility grounds to ensure security and prevent unauthorized access Conduct routine patrols and report any safety concerns or suspicious activity Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations or incident response Enforce facility rules and support staff in maintaining order Complete logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required Provide courteous assistance to visitors, staff, and youth while maintaining professional boundaries Position-Specific Details: Work Location: Acadiana Center for Youth in Bunkie, Louisiana Compensation: $18.00 per hour Appointment Type: This is a part-time/WAE position Work Schedule: 24 hours per week Duties: The incumbent of this position will assist with janitorial and laundry services In the supplemental questions section, applicants must authorize the HR Office of Juvenile Justice to contact prior employers to check references under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) to be considered for employment.
