As a lead automation and AI engineer in Security Detections and Operations, you will build and shape the core infrastructure and toolkits to enable security detection engineers to develop, train, evaluate, deploy, and operate machine learning models and pipelines. You will lead the team in architecting and designing large-scale solutions to automate incident response, investigation, and security operations across Atlassian. You will build systems that provide access to curated LLMs and apply your software development expertise to solve complex infrastructure and architecture challenges. You will lead engineers on projects from technical design to launch, collaborating with other teams and internal customers to set expectations, gather input, and communicate results. You will help create and drive your teams technology innovation and vision to improve scale, consistency, and efficacy of security operations programs. In This Role, You'll Get The Chance To Lead the team in tackling the largest and most complex technology challenges, from design to launch. Deliver practical and elegant solutions that create measurable high-impact outcomes used by other teams and functional areas. Design and deliver AI/ML solutions with tangible business outcomesimproving detection rate/accuracy, reducing manual toil, and demonstrating improvements in detection and response metrics. Design and deliver Automated Incident Response Workflowsdrive AI/ML-driven automation to enable rapid containment and mitigation of threats, minimizing downtime and impact. Design and deliver Threat Intelligence enrichment: leverage AI/ML to analyze large volumes of threat intelligence to provide actionable insights to endpoints, email, malware, network and application threats. Our tech stack is primarily Python/Golang leveraging an OCSF-formatted Databricks platform across a multicloud environment. Qualifications

Fluency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (preferably Python, Java/Kotlin). B.S., M.S. in Engineering or STEM discipline with emphasis on Data Science/AI or equivalent proven practical experience. At least 2-4 years experience in real-world AI cybersecurity applications (along with 3+ years of Data Science Experience). 4+ years designing and building security automation solutions and frameworks that focus on scale, reducing manual toil, and integrating with a wide variety of industry-standard security platforms. Deep background in statistical modeling and techniques with experience on multimodal data sets. Programming focused on preprocessing/postprocessing logs, models, and performance dashboards. Understanding of Machine Learning project lifecycle and tools. Experience in architecting and implementing high-performance RESTful micro-services. Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams in delivering large-scale, enterprise-class security solutions from design to go-live delivery. Strong collaboration and ability to influence stakeholders while mentoring junior team members. Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems using AWS (S3, Kinesis, CloudFormation, EKS, AWS Security and Networking) and Google Cloud Platform. Experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration. Preferred Experience

Experience with Databricks or Apache Spark. Experience with Amazon Sagemaker. Experience scaling and deploying Machine Learning models. Experience using LLMs. Nice to Have

Experience with frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, SciKit-Learn, NLTK, and tools like Shodan, Metasploit, AWS Bedrock, Amazon Lex. Compensation

The baseline of our range is higher than the typical market range, and we hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, the current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are: Zone A: $221,400 - $289,050 Zone B: $199,800 - $260,850 Zone C: $184,500 - $240,875 This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
