The Director of Development / Chief Development Officer at Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club is a leadership role designed for someone who thrives on building relationships, creating strategies, and driving results. We offer two tiers for this position, tailored to different levels of experience. Compensation and responsibilities will align with the tier that best matches your expertise.
Tier 1: Development Director
Experience:
Mid-level, 3-5 years of relevant experience Key Responsibilities:
Lead annual sponsor campaigns and endowment initiatives, while identifying new donor opportunities. Cultivate and secure support from individual donors, corporations, and foundations. Manage major gift solicitations and sponsorships, fostering long-term donor relationships. Oversee donor database implementation and ensure accurate reporting and analysis. Collaborate with the CEO to execute a Resource Development Plan to meet annual financial goals.
Compensation:
$60,000-$75,000 Tier 2: Chief Advancement Officer
Experience:
Senior-level, 5+ years of relevant experience Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and endowment campaigns. Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors to engage top-tier donors, corporate sponsors, and high-net-worth individuals. Build and manage a robust pipeline of major gift prospects with personalized stewardship plans. Represent DMBGC at community events and public relations opportunities to enhance visibility and donor engagement. Oversee development-related software systems and implement meaningful donor recognition programs. Provide regular performance updates to the CEO and COO, making strategic adjustments to meet fundraising goals.
Compensation:
$75,000-$95,000+ Core Responsibilities for Both Tiers
Build a structured development program encompassing annual campaigns, planned giving, major gifts, and community sponsorships. Design and execute engaging donor outreach initiatives, including campaigns, events, and personalized communications. Participate in flagship events such as Dancing with the CU Stars, Fashion for Great Futures, the Golf Tournament, and U of I Football Parking. Maintain and monitor the donor database to ensure accuracy and actionable insights. Collaborate with staff across departments to craft compelling stories that highlight donor impact and program success. Play a key role in planning major events, identifying sponsors, and fostering strong community partnerships. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Communication, Fundraising, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred. A fundraising certificate or equivalent professional experience is highly valued. Experience:
Tier 1:
1-5 years of experience managing development projects, campaigns, or donor relations. Tier 2:
5+ years of experience leading development plans, securing major gifts, and collaborating with nonprofit leadership. Proven success in building donor relationships and achieving fundraising goals. Proficiency with donor management software, Microsoft Excel, and design tools like Canva. Exceptional communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and team collaboration. Self-motivated, adaptable, and deeply passionate about improving youth outcomes. Benefits

Comprehensive coverage for eligible full-time employees, with DMBGC covering 100% of individual health insurance premiums. Dependent coverage is available via payroll deduction. Coverage begins the first of the month after 30 days of employment. Paid Time Off:
Two weeks of vacation earned annually, 11 paid holidays, and sick time accrual at 1.85 hours per pay period. Retirement Plan:
DMBGC contributes 10% of your annual salary to a pension account after one year of continuous employment. Employees are fully vested after three years. Voluntary 403(b) contributions are also available. Additional Policies and Benefits:

As our new Director of Development or Chief Development Officer, you'll have the full backing of our admin team, leadership, and colleagues to help you thrive. Your first year is thoughtfully structured into four quarters, with clear benchmarks and opportunities for growth:
Quarter 1: Laying the Foundation
Gain a deep understanding of our
strategic vision, agency priorities, and the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club Resource Development Plan . Participate in
online training provided by Boys & Girls Club of America , recognized as some of the best in the country, to prepare for your role as a Resource Development Officer. Travel to Indianapolis for three days to attend
Advanced Fundraising and Development Training at the Lilly Fundraising School , where you'll participate in sessions tailored to your needs. All expenses for this trip will be covered. Complete
One Cause, Bid Pal and My Club Hub training , which are fully online, engaging, and designed to help you optimize donor stewardship and organizational tools. Once you complete these trainings, you will align with the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club Resource Development Plan and feel confident in the direction of the organization and where to start.
Quarter 2: Building Relationships and Momentum
Begin meeting with
new and current high-level donors and annual sponsors
to establish trust and connection. Collaborate on our
monthly giving recruitment strategy
to grow steady donations. Partner with our
Events Coordinator
to align fundraising events with the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club Resource Development Plan. Develop and implement
donor engagement strategies
that highlight the transformational work we do.
Quarter 3: Strengthening Donor Engagement
Establish and manage a
portfolio of major gift prospects , cultivating lasting relationships. Take ownership of
donor engagement strategies , refining them to inspire trust and commitment. Work closely with donors to share the

Strengthen relationships with
key prospects and donors , ensuring they remain actively engaged. Collaborate with leadership to
