DUTIES:
The Dean, as the chief academic and administrative officer of the LCME, is responsible for the colleges operations, financial and faculty resources, student recruitment, and fundraising. The Dean oversees ten departments and thirteen academic degree programs, including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, Geological, Metallurgical & Materials, Mining, Petroleum Engineering, Safety and Industrial Hygiene, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Network Administration, and Construction Management. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in an engineering discipline from a regionally accredited university and the rank of full professor or credentials commensurate with appointment as a tenurable full professor in the Montana Tech School of Mines and Engineering. Current professional engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE licensure within one year following appointment. At least four years of university administrative experience at a regionally ABET-accredited academic institution as a department chair, assistant dean, or dean. Administrative experience must include oversight of graduate programs.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Excellent leadership and management abilities, including faculty and staff supervision, ABET accreditation guidance, and budget management. Experience with implementing innovative instructional methods and technologies. Ability to secure external research grants, oversee research programs, and mentor students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong communication skills, political acuity, and ability to represent the School to various stakeholders. Experience building collaborative relationships across departments and institutions. Understanding of the impact of the extractive industries and commitment to their future success. Proven success in recruiting and retaining diverse faculty and students. Track record of resource development and funding acquisition. Experience in new program development and implementation.
