Summary/objective Reporting to the Director of Mission Advancement, the Associate Director of Development and Stewardship (ADDS) is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing, and providing stewardship to individuals capable of making gifts of $25,000 or more to support the mission of the Archdiocese of Detroit and Sacred Heart Major Seminary, with a focus on the Department of Catholic Schools. The ADDS will manage a portfolio of donors and collaborate with department staff to advance fundraising efforts. Essential Functions Manage a portfolio of 120-150 donor prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Meet annual goals for engagement, volunteer commitments, stewardship, and fundraising. Research and build relationships with donors to encourage larger gifts. Develop strategies to move donors from annual giving to major gifts. Share impact stories to steward donors effectively. Plan and execute annual appeals and fundraising initiatives in partnership with the Department of Catholic Schools. Create and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies to meet departmental goals. Prepare contact reports, proposals, and informational materials. Encourage ongoing support of the Annual Fund and Catholic Services Appeal. Attend events to build relationships with donors and prospects. Develop and manage donor research processes. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory responsibilities None. Physical demands Light physical effort, including lifting (5-50 pounds), standing, walking, and speaking. Travel within Southeast Michigan for meetings and visits. Required Education and Experience Bachelors degree in a related field and 3+ years of fundraising experience, with success in closing five-figure gifts or higher. Ability to develop relationships with leadership and major donors. Experience in managing diverse areas and making cold calls. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Availability to work some evenings and weekends. Experience working in hybrid environments (on-site and remote). Competencies Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the Archdiocese of Detroit and Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills. Proficiency in outreach and new constituent engagement. Efficiency in resource utilization and adaptability to workload changes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Customer service, problem-solving, and excellent communication skills. Ability to learn and utilize new software and database tools.
