The Surgery Scheduler provides support to the ENT clinic. The Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgery cases, maintaining department communications, and preparing patient charges. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Schedules procedures with correct date, time, surgeon, procedure, anesthesia and pre-operative interview. Gives scheduling instructions to physicians' office personnel courteously and accurately. Schedules appropriate number of surgical cases per day. Schedules correct procedures in designated operating rooms. Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, and meets attendance/punctuality requirements. Screens and prioritizes calls, directing them to the most appropriate party. Looks for improvements continuously. Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence. Obtains pre-authorization/pre-certification along with eligibility and benefits of each procedure schedule. Communicates this with the Phelps Health Medical Group Business office and involved hospital departments. Enters appropriate orders into the EMR system at providers instruction. Provides support in the clinic setting and rooms patients to complete the intake process. Educates patient in regards to pre-operative procedure to include but not limited to pre-surgical clearance, lab, imaging, etc. Education
An accredited surgical technologist program, practical nursing program, and/or medical assistant program required. Work Experience
Minimum of one year of experience in an appointment scheduling position, preferably in a medical setting required. Certification/License
Licensed Practical Nurse, CST/CFA, and/or certified medical assistant. Must hold a valid license/certificate and be in good standing. American Heart Association Basic Life Support required. Mental/Physical Requirements
Applicant must be flexible and organized, with good attention to detail, ability to multitask and a team player. Close mental and visual attention required for sustained periods of time to complete variable activities. 85% of time is sedentary. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 lbs. Working Conditions
