Machinist Position
Entry level machinist position with no experience. Works under direct supervision of assigned mentor. Performs setups and machine parts with direct supervision. Performs inspection of work produced with direct supervision. Works with co-workers to safely and efficiently maintain operations and production. Engage in continuous improvement activities. Enrollment in the Precision Machining Technology associate degree program at North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND. Candidate will split their time between Collins Aerospace in Jamestown, and North Dakota State College of Science ("NDSCS") in Wahpeton, ND. The expectation is that the candidate work at Collins Aerospace during fall/spring breaks, winter holidays and summers while pursuing their degree. Primary responsibilities include adhering to all EH & S regulations and policies, following the EH & S roles and responsibilities in accordance with the Cargo Policy MP5322, developing ability to interpret drawings, sketches and blueprints, setting up and operating machine shop equipment, inspecting and measuring completed projects with micrometers, calipers, Vernier's, etc., and using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). Knowledge, skills and abilities required include developing basic job skills, learning company policies & procedures to complete routine tasks, and teamwork. Basic qualifications required include a HS diploma or a GED, authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, and enrollment in the Precision Machining Technology associate degree program at North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND.
