Warehouse Associate – Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Associate to join our team. This position is responsible for receiving shipments, managing inventory, fulfilling orders, maintaining the warehouse, and ensuring safety compliance. Ideal candidates are organized, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Receiving and Processing Incoming Shipments:

  • Unloading: Safely unload delivery trucks using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (if certified).
  • Inspection: Check incoming materials for damage and verify quantities against purchase orders or shipping documents. Follow up to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Documentation: Update inventory systems to reflect received items and maintain accurate inventory counts.
  • Labeling & Stockpiling: Tag and label materials by size, shape, and type, and store in designated locations.

Inventory Management and Organization:

  • Stocking: Organize and restock shelves with incoming materials.
  • Storage Optimization: Arrange equipment and materials logically for ease of access, using bins and labels where appropriate.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, perform regular counts, and use software tools to manage inventory and identify trends.

Order Fulfillment and Customer Service:

  • Order Picking: Accurately select and gather items for customer or job orders.
  • Packing: Pack and secure items to prevent damage during delivery or pickup.
  • Staging Jobs: Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for plumbing jobs in advance.
  • Customer Assistance: Help customers or contractors with product selection and resolve order-related issues.
  • Loading: Load materials onto delivery vehicles using appropriate tools and equipment.

Warehouse Maintenance and Safety:

  • Housekeeping: Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards, including loading areas and storage spaces.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA regulations and best practices, including proper stacking and secure storage of materials.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain certifications and schedule regular equipment maintenance.
  • Scrap Disposal: Dismantle scrap materials from job sites and prepare for recycling.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Team Coordination: Communicate effectively with supervisors, sales staff, and coworkers to coordinate deliveries, pickups, and daily operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid forklift certification preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the day.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory software is a plus.
