Overview

Accountant at Rhythm Energy – The Accountant manages timely and accurate vendor payments while supporting Rhythm's general accounting, trade confirmations, and monthly close activities. This role strengthens financial operations and continuous innovation.

What you'll do

  • Manage daily accounts payable activities, including reviewing, coding, and processing vendor invoices and payments in compliance with company policies and procedures (NetSuite, Rippling Spend, and Bill.com experience preferred).
  • Ensure vendor invoices are properly approved and documented, maintain vendor master records, and assist with annual 1099 filings.
  • Monitor and reconcile A/P aging, resolve discrepancies, and prepare weekly payment runs to ensure timely disbursements via ACH, wire, or check.
  • Review and validate trade confirmations against counterparty records and internal trade capture systems, coordinating with traders, counterparties, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and organized confirmation records to support audits, regulatory compliance, and internal reporting.
  • Prepare and record monthly accrual transactions, maintain depreciation and amortization schedules, and perform account analyses to support prepaid expenses and monthly close.
  • Support cross-functional finance initiatives, special projects, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across AP, trade operations, and general accounting.

What you'll bring

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Accounting required
  • Education/certifications: Accounting or Finance Degree
  • Practical experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite strongly preferred) and AP automation tools (e.g., Rippling Spend, Bill.com).
  • Proven track record in vendor management, invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment runs, ideally within a multi-entity or fast-growth company.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations) and confidence working with large data sets.
  • Working knowledge of monthly close activities such as accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and amortization schedules.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with vendors, counterparties, and internal stakeholders across accounting, trading, and operations.
  • A service-oriented mindset, ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, and professionalism in every interaction with vendors, teammates, and counterparties.
  • Accountability and ownership of deliverables, consistently meeting deadlines while upholding the highest standards of financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Agility in adapting to change, a willingness to take on new challenges, and a commitment to advancing Rhythm's mission of building a modern, customer-first energy company.

What success looks like

  • Own the end-to-end AP cycle, including vendor setup, approvals, payments, and A/P aging reconciliation.
  • Fully manage trade confirmation processing and record keeping, meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the monthly close by preparing accruals, prepaid schedules, and depreciation/amortization schedules on time.
  • Identify at least one process improvement opportunity (e.g., automation, reporting, workflow efficiency) and propose a solution.
  • Earn trust as a reliable partner for both internal teams and external vendors/counterparties.
