Overview

Senior Accountant role at Finvisor. Location: Remote. Department: Accounting. Reports to: Controller. Salary: $90-$100k Base, depending on experience + 10-20% OTE bonus.

This Senior Accountant role supports our Accounting Manager and Controller-level team with day-to-day accounting needs. This position involves supporting the accounting department, managing 15 mid- to full-size clients, handling client engagements with C-level executives, providing technical support, reviewing monthly closes, and closing the books for a portion of our client base. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position with cross-functional interaction across the team (accounting, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable).

Primary responsibilities

  • Define and implement rigorous accounting processes and controls
  • Perform all general ledger functions: revenue recognition, prepaid expenses, short and long term investments, accrued liabilities, inventory tracking, depreciation and amortization, equity, and interest income and expense
  • Review monthly client closes
  • Manage all accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, cash flow management and financial reporting
  • Develop revenue recognition and other accounting policies, processes, and internal controls, consistent with GAAP
  • Ensure accurate and timely development of financial statements, provide insights on technical accounting areas, including footnotes, disclosures, and audit responses as needed
  • Identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax filings and payments to Federal, State, and Local tax agencies

Qualifications

  • Current CPA designation or equivalent experience
  • Four plus years of experience
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, including preparation of audited GAAP financial statements (IFRS is also a plus)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with clear and sensitive responses to client inquiries and escalations
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a resourceful nature, team-first attitude, and problem-solving orientation
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting company goals and deadlines
  • Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct)
  • Experience with payroll processing systems (Gusto, ADP, Paychex, Rippling, QuickBooks Online, or similar)
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Excel
  • Desire to tackle new challenges and projects
