The Manager, Marketing Events is responsible for planning and executing firm-hosted events and programs in all offices within the US and Latin America. This role collaborates with the Marketing and Business Development team, lawyers, and office contacts to implement initiatives that promote the firm and enhance our culture. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Marketing Events and requires work hours in excess of a standard workday, especially during peak event seasons.
We offer a hybrid working policy that requires being in the office on an as-needed basis. It is expected that this position may work remotely unless tasks dictate or guidance is provided by the supervisor to come into the office or be onsite at an event.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and execute firm events, meetings, webinars, conferences and related activities of all types, virtual and in-person, including venue and vendor research, contract negotiation, budgeting, resource materials preparation, registration and attendance collation, feedback and post-event analysis for all assigned events
- Manage and coach marketing events team direct reports, as assigned
- Partner closely with Business Development and Marketing teams to determine and develop event scope, objectives, invitation lists, content and promotional and implementation plans
- Serve as editor and manager of assigned event communications including tracking of event requests, approvals, plans and summaries; final approver for all save-the-dates, invitations, reminders and thank you messages; draft surveys used for events; ensure consistency with firm style guide and branding guidelines
- Oversee and coordinate activities of vendors and subcontractors as required to effectively execute all aspects of events
- Collect and interpret reporting metrics for events, including budget versus actual cost, attendance rates and fulfillment of objectives and goals
- Travel to firm functions and training sessions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Minimum seven years of experience planning and executing professional corporate events
- Proven experience mentoring and managing at least two seasoned event professionals simultaneously
- CMP certification a plus, but not required
- Experience working in a professional services marketing environment a plus
- Strong knowledge of events strategy and vendor negotiation
- Strong budget management and accurate reconciliation skills
- Client-service oriented with a diplomatic and collaborative approach
- Professionalism, personal integrity and high degree of confidentiality and discretion
- Attention to detail, accuracy, responsiveness and excellent organizational skills required
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
- Good judgement and accountability for delivering excellent work products
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both written and oral
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment, including the ability to prioritize
- Confident interaction with all levels of the organization, both legal and administrative
- Reliable, flexible and a can-do attitude is essential
- Ability to travel as needed
Compensation and Benefits
Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The full-time base annual salary for this position in the New York City market is expected to range between $110,000 and $140,000. This range represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for a position in New York City. Salaries in other markets will vary depending on market data. Bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
