Overview

CVP assists federal civilian agencies with the implementation of large-scale marcomms initiatives. We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to support our growing strategic marketing and communications projects. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in graphic design across a variety of mediums, including experience in supporting federal, state or local government clients. Ideal clients will have experience in the federal space, with work product supporting a broad array of agency-level initiatives, to include recruiting, retention, employee engagement, agency program offices, and others.

The Graphic Designer collaborates closely on a small team at a secure government site in Suitland, Maryland. This is an opportunity to directly engage with maritime clients to brainstorm, collaborate, design, and deliver client products for internal and external audiences. The Graphic Designer will translate products for optimal display across a variety of mediums, including print, PDF, social media, web, and video formats. They will be familiar with modern standards for accessibility and / or Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, its requirements, and how to appropriately design products to maximize accessibility.

Responsibilities

  • Producing engaging graphics, infographics, reports, templates, presentations, and other visual communications products.
  • Conceiving and designing marketing, publication, digital, print, and motion graphic assets for use across various media (social media, web, video, print, and OOH).
  • Distilling complex information into compelling visual stories.
  • Staying current with design and visual communications trends.
  • Conceptualizing digital production and design initiatives, and developing promotional, technical, informational, and event-driven artistic comprehensives.
  • Assessing and analyzing methods and using resources and skills toward meeting project media production.
  • Creating graphical depictions of intelligence products, streamlining intelligence through graphic depiction and data assimilation to produce visual productions of strategy and mission concepts.
  • Generating digital graphics including trifolds, posters, event programs, invitations, book covers, tables, charts (bar, pie, org, briefing, flow), flyers, tickets, business cards, web banners, geospatial maps, and other assimilated products.
  • Experience in desktop, computer art design, web and graphical design, geographical interpretations, and production experience.

Qualifications

  • An active Top Secret security clearance is required to be considered for the position.
  • Must be eligible to obtain the level of TS / SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, design, visual communications, or similar concentration.
  • Experience in graphic design or multimedia environment (desktop, computer art design, web and graphical design, geographical interpretations, and production).
  • More than five years of experience handling classified documents.
  • Portfolio of diverse digital and print design products.
  • Demonstrated skill with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Flash Professional, Acrobat), CorelDraw, and MS Office.
  • Understanding of production and rendering methods using Adobe Professional Flash and Adobe After Effects.
  • Ability to operate various computer platforms (Mac and Windows) and peripheral equipment (printers, CD/DVD burners, audio equipment).
  • Ability to produce high-quality posters, geospatial maps, invitations, book covers, charts, flyers, business cards, and web banners.
  • Ability to solve visual communication problems by identifying the issue, analyzing information, and generating potential solutions.
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts into effective visual form across media, adapt graphics to client needs and target audiences, and utilize production tools to design, edit, and produce video, audio, and graphic materials.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and customers.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and schedule work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across multiple levels within an organization and with stakeholders.
  • Experience working for government or capable of sophisticated design and branding representative of a government agency.

  • Proficiency in typography, color theory, layout, and iterative design across digital, web, and print design.

  • Proven ability to manage client needs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, creative problem solving, initiative, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience with 508-compliance.
  • Demonstrated skill with Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, or other video production software.
  • Knowledge or experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.
