In preparation for building a new commercial manufacturing site, Serán BioScience is searching for a Facilites Engineer to support the project. The Facilities Engineer will be part of a cross-functional team that oversees the design, operation, and maintenance of the organization's facilities, utilities and infrastructure. The position is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and sustainability of building systems, equipment and processes. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing projects, and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.This position requires a thorough understanding of the processes and systems associated with the facilities and utilities and the applicable regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures, and requirements. The ability to demonstrate effective communication is essential for collecting required information, alignment of strategies and approaches, and correcting deficiencies while maintaining good working relationships with internal customers and external service providers. Experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing and facilities is required. Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeads cross functional internal and external teams during the execution of facilities projects and development of internal programs/processes for successful outcomesOversees the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systemsConducts regular inspections to ensure systems comply with safety and environmental regulationsDevelops and implements preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtimePlans and manages facility improvement projects, including renovations, expansions, and upgradesCoordinates with contractors, vendors, service providers and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budgetProvides technical expertise to resolve issues related to building systems and equipmentInvestigates and troubleshoots system failures, recommending and implementing solutionsEvaluates project feasibility, including cost estimation and resource allocationMonitors and analyzes energy usage to identify opportunities for cost savings and sustainability improvementsImplements energy-efficient solutions and sustainability initiativesEnsures compliance with environmental regulations and standardsPerforms other related duties as assignedResponsibilities may increase in scope to align with company initiativesRequired Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of cGMPs and Global Regulatory (e.g., FDA / MHRA / EMEA) guidelines and regulations acquired through education, experience, and trainingThorough experience with facility systems regarding design, construction, and repairs; systems include but are not limited to HVAC, compressed gases, water systems (i.e. purified water, steam), electrical, and automation/controls plus monitoring Experience in facility design regarding process flow, controlled zones, fit and finish, and structural components with respect to pharmaceutical facilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsCommunicates effectively and maintains productive relationships with coworkers, clients, and other contacts outside the CompanyExcellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAccepts feedback from a variety of sources and constructively manages conflictProficiency in enterprise systems, Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools, with aptitude to learn new software and systemsProficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD/Revit, CMMS, Microsoft Office Suite).Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or another discipline with equivalent experience and trainingProven experience in facilities management, engineering, or related fieldStrong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systemsFamiliarity with energy management, sustainability practices, and building automation systemsPreference will be granted to candidates holding LEED AP, CFM, or PE certification Physical RequirementsPhysically able to work throughout facilities and move across campusProlonged periods of time standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing laddersRequired to work in settings with extreme cold or heat at various times of yearMust be able to lift fifteen pounds regularly, and up to 30 pounds occasionally Adheres to consistent and predictable in-person attendanceVisit https://www.seranbio.com/careers to learn more about company culture and the community of Bend, Oregon.Level and compensation will be based on experience.Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Benefits Summary:Serán employees accrue over four weeks of paid time off annually.
