Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to take ownership of complex general ledger activities and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting for designated business units. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong accounting foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by analyzing account data.
- Reconcile monthly bank accounts and balance sheets across assigned business units.
- Analyze revenue, commissions, and expenses to ensure accurate monthly reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and trial balances.
- Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis.
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting, including audit schedules and ad hoc requests.
- Coordinate complex accounting projects with internal departments.
- Develop and document internal processes and accounting policies to support compliance and strengthen internal controls.
- Post payments, process refunds, and reconcile customer and carrier accounts.
- Communicate with internal teams and external carriers to resolve discrepancies and manage collections.
- Oversee direct bill commission posting and resolve balancing issues.
- Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in the insurance or agency industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; advanced knowledge of accounting software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Able to manage competing priorities with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
- Collaborative team player who also thrives working independently.
