Overview

SVP Development Investment - Trammell Crow Company. Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time role focused on multi-family development and investment activities in the Boston market. The role is accountable for sourcing, underwriting, and field execution of transactions, including site selection, entitlements and approvals, budgeting, design, crafting and implementing project business plans, capitalizing and monetizing projects, usually under direction of a principal-level colleague and in conjunction with development management professionals. The role will be responsible for building out and leading the team necessary to meet the Business Unit’s goals and objectives. Manage Market Relationships : Develop relationships with market participants (investors, brokers, tenants, lenders, engineers, appraisers, etc.) to maintain current knowledge of market conditions and opportunities.

Source : Identify and gain control of new development and build-to-suit opportunities. Create and implement product-specific business plans.

Shape : Manage predevelopment processes including due diligence, entitlements, risk mitigation, and overall deal viability. Be accountable for assumptions in the development underwriting.

Capitalize Deals : Negotiate and secure deal terms from debt and equity sources to optimize capital structure. Engage with capital partners on day-to-day project progress.

Present : Create investment packages and lead projects through internal Investment Committee processes.

Execute : Plan, organize, and control major projects or departments. Determine execution strategy and operating budgets, including hiring project leasing and property management teams, negotiating major leases, supervising negotiations, managing asset acquisitions and dispositions, lease-up, stabilization, and monetization.

Update : Regularly review company asset management system (ELITE) data for assigned projects to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Lead Teams : May supervise direct and matrix reports. Manage staffing and development of teams, and model TC’s values in leadership.

Relationship Management : Develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners, consultants, architects, contractors, and brokers; engage with community organizations.

Negotiate : Support deal documentation, redlining, tracking and completion for term sheets, purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, and leases; ensure timely engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

Work Environment and Travel : Primarily in office with travel to job sites within the region.

What You’ll Need

Education : Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or architecture from an accredited 4-year program. Law degree, MBA, or other relevant graduate degree preferred.

Industry Experience : Typically at least 10 years in commercial real estate with strong land sourcing, financial, and leasing abilities. Proven track record in leading profitable development projects. Experience developing Multi-Family product in Boston, MA preferred.

Negotiating Skills : Demonstrated ability to negotiate with key partners (employees, management, investors, lenders, sellers, tenants, public/private collaborators, and community groups).

Management Experience : Ability to lead teams and develop/implement business strategy; strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Financial Knowledge : Understanding of financial/real estate terms, ability to analyze financial statements and compute metrics like IRR, present value, etc.

Problem Solving : Ability to analyze, interpret, and move projects forward in complex, ambiguous situations; prioritize activities to support the business.

Entrepreneurial Spirit : Self-motivated, proactive, strategic, and adaptable to change and continuous improvement.

Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication; ability to draft reports and presentations and manage stakeholder communications.

Project Management : Ability to lead multiple partners, create achievable schedules, track milestone dates, and report status to senior management.

Compensation information: The minimum salary is $200,000 and the maximum is $250,000 per year, with discretionary bonuses possible based on qualifications and experience. Equal Employment Opportunity:
