Mailroom Assistant : Part-Time:

Role:

Assists with mailroom, and the pickup and delivery of the daily mail on campus.

The rate of pay is $12.97-$19.46 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

40% Provides on-campus mail services. Receives and sorts all incoming mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) and prepares mail for delivery. Delivers mail to each department daily while picking up any outgoing mail. Answers any phone calls to mailroom/shipping and receiving.

30% Operates and maintains mailroom equipment that prepares outgoing mail, including postage and bulk mailings. Operates the United States Postal Service (USPS) Business Customer Gateway for on-line forms.

25% Assist with shipping and receiving by receiving Amazon, UPS, FedEx, DHL and other packages, record in daily log, deliver packages to appropriate person or department, scan packing slips for department’s records.

5% Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Up to six months of similar or related experience. Experience in operating modern mailing equipment and/or telephone switchboard in a corporate environment preferred.

Education: A high school education or GED. Knowledge of USPS procedures and regulations preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills: Good attention to detail, able to see differences in words and numbers used to classify materials for filing. Exceptional telephone and oral communication skills, as well as good typing skills. Ability to work effectively under stressful situations while maintaining a cordial and positive demeanor.

Physical Requirements: Work requires walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items. Work may also include driving an automobile, golf cart, etc.

Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office, very little exposure to outside elements.

This position requires three professional references. This position is considered a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.
