Overview
Assistant Store Manager F/T at Goodwill of Southern New England. This position supports store operations including collections, processing, sales, financial performance, loss prevention and personnel management under the supervision of the Store or Outlet Manager. Assist in all store operations including processing, inventory, customer service, and store maintenance to meet production and sales goals. Supervise store associates and shift supervisors; supervise community service workers and supported employment crews as assigned. Support budgeting, payroll, revenue generation, and expense control in coordination with the Store Manager. Ensure safety, security, cleanliness, and proper operation of facilities and equipment; maintain office, sales floor, and processing areas in good order. Ensure cash handling procedures and daily cash deposits are completed accurately; assist with banking as required. Oversee adherence to Goodwill policies, CARF standards, safety and security regulations; report infractions to Store Manager or Human Resources as needed. Manage onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance of staff; ensure adequate coverage for production, customer service, and safety needs. Coordinate with maintenance and alarm responders when required and respond to alarm calls as needed. Essential Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; 2+ years of related experience, including supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of training/education and retail experience. Must be 18 years or older. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operate and maintain instructions, and write routine reports; effective speaking skills for groups and customers. Basic mathematical skills for discounts, commissions, percentages, etc. Reasoning ability to apply common sense in instructions and solve problems with multiple variables. Sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping and general Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Good understanding of brand apparel and merchandise value in a retail setting; high integrity and business ethics. Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 100 pounds, standing, walking, and occasional exposure to various environmental conditions; willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
