Overview
The Vice President of Corporate Engineering is responsible for driving innovation, leading research and development, and ensuring the advancement of engineering excellence across the organization. This role oversees the company’s global engineering strategy, including design, systems, and advanced technologies such as firmware, drives, and functional safety. The VP will lead the R&D portfolio, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of innovation within the heavy industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Drive innovation in design, systems, and advanced technologies, including firmware, drives, and functional safety.
Lead the company’s R&D portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and market opportunities.
Identify and implement emerging technologies that enhance competitiveness and operational efficiency.
Champion intellectual property development, protection, and commercialization.
Ensure patents, proprietary technologies, and trade secrets strengthen the company’s market position.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within engineering teams.
Establish and manage offshore engineering capabilities to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and timely solutions.
Ensure global engineering operations are aligned with corporate strategy and customer needs.
Build and lead high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams across multiple geographies.
Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute the company’s long-term engineering strategy.
Partner with operations, product management, and commercial teams to translate business needs into innovative engineering solutions.
Develop and manage budgets, resources, and timelines to support innovation and product development goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field; advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D., or MBA) strongly preferred.
15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, ideally in heavy industry, mining, or related industrial sectors.
Proven track record of leading R&D portfolios, driving innovation, and managing complex engineering programs.
Experience with firmware, drives, and functional safety systems.
Strong background in intellectual property strategy, including patents and technology protection.
Demonstrated success in building and managing global and offshore engineering teams.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
