$160K – $190K base + discretionary bonus, plus comprehensive benefits package Base pay range
$160,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr Controller Key Responsibilities
Lead all financial management and reporting, including AP/AR, trust/IOLTA accounts, general ledger, budgets, forecasts, tax filings, and audits Provide accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, along with analysis and insights for firm leadership Maintain strong compliance and internal controls in line with GAAP, firm policies, and IOLTA/tax regulations Oversee payroll, vendor management, and system upgrades while driving process improvements Partner closely with the Director of Finance, Executive Director, Managing Partner, and attorneys on strategic financial initiatives Supervise and mentor a team of direct reports, promoting accountability, growth, and continuous improvement Controller Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (law firm or professional services strongly preferred) Expertise in law firm accounting, trust/IOLTA account management, and legal billing structures preferred Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Elite, Aderant, or similar accounting software Proven supervisory experience with ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex financial information clearly High integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive information Additional details
