About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced
Controller
to lead the accounting and financial operations of our growing construction company. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of public accounting and industry experience within the construction sector, with a proven ability to manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, oversee financial controls, and optimize systems including SAGE. This role will serve as a strategic business partner to leadership, ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and forward-looking insights to support growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and cash management.
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Lead the preparation and review of WIP schedules, job cost reporting, and project performance analysis.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax filings, and audit requirements.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
Partner with project managers and leadership to provide financial insight into job performance and profitability.
Lead the utilization and optimization of
SAGE
accounting software, ensuring accurate reporting and streamlined processes.
Manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional development and team efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including both
public accounting
and
construction industry
roles.
Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including WIP and job costing.
Proficiency with
SAGE
accounting software required.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation Base pay range:
$150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr
