Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Key Responsibilities:
Setting up for the event
Bagging groceries
Load items on participants cars
Skills & Qualifications:
No prior experience required
Able to lift bags weighing up to 35 pounds using proper lifting technique
Comfortable standing for the duration of the shift
Training Provided:
On-site training provided at the beginning of the shift
Attire: Please wear closed-toe shoes. Also, make sure to dress in layers as we will be working outside, and the weather often changes as the day progresses
Bring: Make sure you have a hat or sunglasses since volunteers will be outside. Snacks will be provided
Physical Requirements: Individuals with physical limitations can be accommodated since a lot of the work can be completed from a sitting position. The project space is wheelchair accessible
Weather: This event takes place rain or shine. The ASYMCA has canopy tents and just asks that you dress appropriately for the weather
Note: This volunteer opportunity closes 10 days before the shift starts to allow time for base access approval, if needed. If you do not have base access you will meet with an Armed Services YMCA staff member 15 minutes prior to the start of the shift to be escorted onto the base and food distribution location. If you have base access, you will be able to go straight to the Armed Services YMCA's main office.
